Dangit! I'm getting irritated with ELLIOT at dc101.com! They STILL haven't posted the interview. What is up with that. They keep saying they will, but if they have, I can't find it. =/ Oh well just wanted to rant... I'm gonna go watch "Tuck Everlasting" now. That movie is SO CUTE! The book is pretty good, even though it's meant for like 8 year olds. heh heh. Speaking of books meant for 8 year olds, I CANNOT WAIT for the new Harry Potter book to come out! Yep, got sucked into the Harry Potter cult. (maybe I'm not so mature after all) LOL! I'll probaly check in later on tonight before I go to bed.

Natalie, guess what I found a Wal*Mart for $3.00? A kahki and denim floppy/bucket type hat set. It was the last one there. You should check your local Wal*Mart if your hats don't come in time. =)

How you describe the heat & humidity (which I got to experience in TX) sounds like the way my grandma described it when she was still living in Indiana. She said when they were getting ready to move to AZ (over 50 years ago), she had to take a lot of breaks 'cause it was so hot & humid it was hard to breathe & just dripping with sweat. Yuck! That's why, I guess, that she's more appreciative of the "dry heat" in AZ. Not knowing the other at the time I was still living in AZ, I could see how I was naive. I suppose typing without capital letters is a lot quicker than taking time to push the shift button then the letter. Jan - heat with humidity - I FEEL YOU PAIN. It's the worst, it's like you can't even breathe properly! It gets really humid here in Missouri too. I hope you're staying safe with all those tornadoes! Though I do have to say that I'm a completely different person than I was when I was 16 (I'm only 20). Especially after 9-11 happened, and that's probably (even more so) the case of those brave men a women.

Then I'll wear it all around the world having people take photos of me wearing it as I stand in front of all kinds of famous tourist attractions. I'll take my own photos too as I go along to support my photography career. And sell my photos, and photos of the hat and donate money to the troops. =) Sound just perfect! LOL yeah I'm living in a dream world. Maybe that's the "inspired inventor" coming out of me. LOL =) (so that's what I should have been calling day dreams all along - inspired inventions!)

Jan- Exactly my thoughts!! I always told my Grandma something similar to that. The last time I few to AZ in the summer, it felt *just* like that when we stepped outside from the baggage area- like you just opened oven door- all dry heat. Hehe- I think you got me & Leslie confused- she did comment on the "picture in waiting" though. I'm hoping for Monday, but as my mother-in-law says, "TTT" or "things take time"......so I'll practice my patience skills (or lack thereof-lol!). :D Jan, how great! you got an answer back! His replies are casual, friendly, and very impossible to resist replying to. LOL- I was soooo certain the pic would arrive yesterday that I have a "thank you" draft saved in Outlook at work. I'll try to be patient... 0: ) (that's supposed to be a halo above the smiley, but oh well!). I keep looking at the Rick pix and it looks like it's a solid color hat (no camo), but the GI Jane Military supplies place has 'em for a good price, so I may get two. I need to wear hats when I'm outside anyway so it couldn't hurt to have a couple of 'em. I *definitely* plan on bringing a waterproof camera. Jan- Yeah, that's what I told the girl who got the call- I said that I didn't care if he has Dr before his name or MD after- NOT cool at all. Yeah-especially these days, who makes threats like that? It's just not smart- it's like making a joke while going through the metal detector at an airport- just uncalled for and immature- and this guy is like 63, old enough to know better! Ah yes- I know San Jose- we were just there in April to see Tori Amos in concert. Oh my God.....the HIPAA thing....yeah, we've been briefed on that- thank God our legal & risk management depts are taking care of that and not us in underwriting! It sounds like a real nightmare...I always thought it was private too, until we were informed about it. It sounds confusing having all those different trash cans! I forget where you live- I see Peoria- is that Illinois? Yeah- the humidity is prolly the worst especially when it gets above 80 or 85. It gets like that in Austin in the summer I think- we've been there a couple of times where it's been 105 w/ ninety-something percent humidity. In AZ, they always said "yes, it's hot (115 degrees for ex.), BUT IT'S A DRY HEAT". I always hated that phrase- hot is hot. But, I found that yes, the humidity makes it *a lot* worse.

I was going to do the IQ test, but found that I already had- I was 127, and I'm an "Insightful Linquist"...and..."The first thing we can tell you about that is you have the natural fluency of a writer and the visual and spatial strengths of an artist. Those skills contribute to your creative and expressive mind. But that's just scratching the surface." Naturally they want to suck you into buying the "full report"- lol! There's loads of fun tests in there!
Melissa- I love those tests! LOL- I did the "which Friend are you" one & no surprise to me, I was Monica. I'll have to do the IQ one- if I haven't already. I've done so many that I can't remember which ones I have & haven't done yet. Plus they're always adding more of them. Yeah, I just chalked it up to a bad day- I think I'm going to talk to my boss on Monday about the gun threat thing- it's prolly nothing, but I do want her to know my concern. After all, had the underwriter (who is now on stress leave) gotten it to me to process, I would have been the processor. I feel really excited about writing when I really get into it and know what I want to write about. I have a few stories where I've gotten that "high"- and it's great. That's partially why I bought so many of those "chick-lits" as they call them, I guess. LOL- I just got an email from Waldenbooks today that they have a buy 4 get the 5th free deal for their members....I should've waited till today- I could've prolly saved 20 or 25 bucks- oh well! I want to see the style that is out there- it tends to inspire me; although I do have lots running through my mind anyway. Let's just say I have a active & vivid imagination. :D It looks like you've been doing skanky hat research too! LOL The GI Jane Military surplus has them for $12.99- they also have those Army PT shirts (like the one I was talking about sometime last week) there for $9.99. I'm going to check out the links you gave too though- I need quick delivery.

Just think how you feel when you get the chance to sit down and immerse yourself into a story that you've been going over in your head. How excited do you get when a story starts evolving on paper? I love to write too, but I always draw a huge blank when I try to write a full blown story. Perhaps that's why I love reading so much, because someone else has done the writing for me, and all I have to do is read it. =)

Leslie- LMAO- *how* could I have forgotten the skanky desert hat?!? I need a hat, but just didn't put two & two together. Gotta do some web shopping tonight for that.....:D Hey, when as pasty as I am, I'm gonna need SPF 400- LOL. It's actually a tour company so I'm sure it's pretty safe- I'll be sure to check on that too- it's on the American River near Sacramento (or Sacratomato as they call it sometimes around here).
Oh, girls, I'm *so* glad it's Friday- it's been a day from hell already & it's only noon. A co-worker got a call from one of our insureds (we insure MD's) who was quite unhappy (more like very irate). It went a little like this: he was very angry and threatening and was upset that his policy wasn't amended as requested 3 mos ago and that he'd spoken with many people regarding changing his policy. He expressed his frustration with the "incompetent people" here and said he was "bloody fed up" and felt that he needed to "come to our office with a gun" in order to get things done. Now, the way people are these days, you just never know. To make matters worse, he's one of the MDs that falls in one of the counties I handle, so that's not a great comfort to me. I'm *this* close to just throwing in the towel, packing up my crap and saying sayonara. But I *need* the profit sharing.....so I just keep focusing on the future. Geez, I could really use that signed picture of Rick right now- I'm really hoping it gets here today. Jan- it may take awhile :( so don't get discouraged. Back to the work thing, though- there are so many unhappy people here & also the insureds. I feel terrible, 'cause I know what kind of job I can do but am limited by our system and lack of enough people here to do the work. I've got 8 out of 12 of the So. CA counties & a huge broker (who have invited me to go river rafting a week from Weds- I wanna go, but it kinda scares me- anyone here done that before???). I'm just trying to hang in there.....I'm putting a copy of that signed pic up front & center as soon as it gets here!! :D
Leslie- You sure know how to make me LMAO!! Of *COURSE* you're still welcome!!! It wouldn't be the same without you! Hmmm....good question- we have a dinghy, so the guys could hang out in there- lol!! It's funny- we don't have many places to sit- the dinette seat is covered with food (packaged, that is), and we have a recliner & a papasan chair (I know, I know- "on a *boat*? Yes, on a boat...hey, the main salon's pretty good size). So, usually when we have guests, I surrender the two chairs & opt for the floor or the steps going in. We're working on getting a loveseat or sofa. May have to wait till we get that before we do the trade.... Of course *I* may be sleeping on deck once the hubby finds out about our trade- LOL! Mmmmmmm......you got me on the last one- "with Todd Connor on....." **sigh** :D Ok- it's *way* too early to have my mind *that* far into the gutter.... :D

Thanks Ellen SO VERY MUCH for that site! As I kept reading I kept thinking "That's me! I feel those things! I do that!" I have never felt so strongly about something as I do photography. In fact tonight on my way home from the movie (it was awesome!) The sky was filled with lightning. It was the strangest thing, it was only lightning no thunder, no rain. Anyway the lightning was flooding the sky. I mean if you've ever been to a concert where tons of flashes are going off at once, it was like that. It was SO beautiful! And all I could think was, "Damn I left my camera at home!" (I normally carry my digital camera in my purse) So when I got home I grabbed my camera and rushed outside and took photos for about 1/2 an hour. I only got about 3 decent lightning photos, but that's rare considering lightning is there and gone in a split second.

oh Jan LOL sorry, a domain name is a site that's like www.rick-leventhal.com or www.foxnews.com You see rickleventhal.blogspot.com is a SUB domain. It just means that I'm a part of someone else's domain (I'm part of www.blogspot.com) and have no control over it. I was wanting to register my own domain name for this blog like LevenGals.com but something even more cool. We could come up with a name for out nifty little "cult" group LOL Oh yes, and of COURSE I'd like a copy/scan of your photo. I'm gonna ask other people to send me there's so I can post them on the site. =)

Teri! I'm excited & jealous! *grins & then pouts*....I replied to his reply & didn't hear anything back....but maybe I need to start fresh! Actually I was thinking of writing a new one when I got the picture (which did *not* come in the mail today, but there's always tomorrow....) My post office is uncannily behind on a regular basis it seems, so I can't blame Rick! :D OK Teri, I want to know your emailing secrets! :D Maybe I should have waited to email him today instead of on Sunday or Monday (I forget now when I last sent). Melissa- I know, huh- I keep getting a vision of Rick sitting back in his chair with "that grin" on his face (or would that be a smirk?), resting his chin between his thumb and first finger just soooo bemused by what we write! Kinda makes me giddy just thinking about it......lol! I was also wondering if Rick was short for Richard....I'm not sure. He looks more like a Rick than a Richard or Rich. Nah. Definitely gotta be a Rick or Ricky, as Shep calls him. It is kinda funny though, isn't it?

It is really cool that he's answered now to 4 of our emails (2 of Teri's, Melissa's & mine)- that only encourages me to write more, but....what? What I told him in my original email basically was commending him on the job he did in Iraq, how much we (the viewers in the US) appreciated his hard work. More lightheartedly, I mentioned a *very good* New Mexico style Mexican food place in Manhattan called Los Dos Molinos. There's one in AZ that my dad & stepmom go to religiously- like 2 times a week- since about 1992. They could own stock. It's owned/operated by one family and they wanted to branch out to NY in 1999 or 2000. In fact, they helped feed the volunteers, firefighters, & police after 9/11. They have such awesome food (and the best margaritas)- it's always a *MUST* when I go home to AZ. I told Rick that he & Shep should go there sometime (obviously to the one in Manhattan). I wrote back and said "Thank you so much for your quick reply! It brought a smile to my face that stayed there even in the toughest moments at work on Friday. I will be watching my mail! Please keep up the great work and always know that it is appreciated- thank you for going the extra distance to bring us reports from a human viewpoint. Be sure to try Los Dos Molinos in Manhattan- grab Shep and try it out (if you haven't already)!" I thanked him again and that was it. I was kinda hoping he'd say something back, but not counting on it. Teri gives me new hope! Yay! I figured that maybe he wants to give everyone a chance at an answer so maybe he only replies once- guess not! :D

Melissa - while hunting the net for info on Mal James I came across this site. //hlford.com/essay.htm . It has some incrediable photo's (photojournalist style) and it opens with this essay about being a photojournalist. I thought I would post it here because it is worth sharing.
"A great photo happens when a photographer sees a situation unfolding in front of them that evokes an emotion that the photographer feels deep down, in the middle of their chest. And in a split second, they then make a conscience choice of exposure, lens, depth of field, lighting, body language, composition, etc., and releases the shutter. The film is then processed, scanned, laid out on a page, printed on a press, driven across town to the newspaper carrier who throws it on some guy's porch, who then opens the newspaper and looks down at that photo … and if that guy gets the same feeling deep down in the middle of his chest that the photographer did when they viewed the situation in the first place, they have made a great photo."

Melissa- just dropping off a note about your photographs. I never notice that you had a site for them before. I just wanted to let you know that the one of you is the best. It is the most honest and tells a story. True, I tend to lean towards photojournalism rather than art shots - which is rather unusual since my own artwork leans towards the abstract. But to me there is nothing more powerful then a camera in the hands of a good storyteller with a heart. Could be that is one of the reason's you are a Rick Leventhal fan.
Have you ever seen any of Mal James' (Greg's photographer) work (his still work). I have to say I was impressed with his camera work and the way he related what he saw in Iraq. A photographer tells a story twice. He take the picture and then in the process of the process (darkroom) he/she lives it all over again. Someone asked if I get to watch tv at work. Well sort of. My mom has a tv in her office and my office is right next to hers and we have a little window and doorway in between our offices. My mom works 4 ten hour days a week instead of 5 eight hour days, and I have to work on her day off, so I use her computer and get to have free reign of the tv on that day. Then once in a blue moon I can talk my mom into watching Studio B instead of Marth Stewart. Also I get one day off a week because I work part time. Today is my day off so I've kept tuning in to Fox News to see if Rick is on. They've been talking about this Laci Peterson stuff all morning so I'll flip back and forth between Fox and something else. I don't think I've missed any Rick especially since no one else has claimed to see him this morning.

Actually I can't use symbols in a domain name but I could do www.levyateleven.com or www.levyat11.com, what I'll probably do is register www.rick-leventhal.com as a "pointer" name (one that takes you to the real domain) since I know having his name will help people find the site. Then I'll register something creative for the real page. I checked www.leventhalreports.com and it's not taken. I kinda like that one too.

Melissa - I think it is great you are getting your site going. As a Net surfer junkie, I used a lot of search engines for doing research for things I sell - yes on "eBay", I know that if you do not put the words "Rick Leventhal" in your sight name address folks may not find your sight.
For example - I found the article Rick wrote by using his email address on a search engine. Therefore if you want lots of folks to discover all your hard work and Rick has pretty much given you the go ahead I would use his name or at the very least his last name.
How about some of these: ourmanlevyleventhal, rickleventhalfans, leventhalreports, ourmanlevethal, therickleventhalpage. ...you know what I will go try some of them and see if anything turns up on the search engines - could be they are already used. - Ellen

Especially when he's on with you." I will continue to nag TPTB until they have him doing more stories. Hey maybe Rick is taking time off to write his book heh heh, OH and maybe he'll include one of those photo inserts in the middle of the book with him and Christian. Hey, a girl can dream can't she?? Rick should sell that hat on ebay, he'd make a fortune. LOL I'd buy it and devote an entire website to it. LOL just kidding. LMAO, Teri! Heh heh- it *does* make me wonder what is going through his mind about all these emails he's getting! I'm hot now, but that's 'cause I was working out trying to work off the heavy lunch I had today. It was *hot* here today- I don't know what it was in the City, but in Marin, it was 90 when I got home- and that was at 4:30. It's not that bad considering other parts of the country are 100+ (like my homestate- AZ), but when you don't have a cooler or AC (at least not on the boat), it's *hot*. My poor kitty keeps laying on the wood floors for coolness- lol! Time for the natural AC to come in (i.e., FOG)! I noticed that Rick replied to me in the AM- I checked around 7:15 my time and from what I could tell, he sent it at 6:15 my time (which would be 9:15 NY time). So check bright & early! :D You never know! Of course, we want *all* the details *when* he writes back! :D
Lynne- Now *that* must have made the class interesting! History of Christianity taught by an athiest.....Yep- religions are definitely man made. My hubby grew up Catholic and his parents really stopped going when the chuch was not going the direction they thought it should be (same reason that I've heard many Catholics say). He graduated from St. Thomas in Houston- an all boys Catholic school. Wait a minute- you left out Todd! ;D No offense Leslie, but I want to trade Shep for Todd! LOL!! I don't see Rick as being that tall- like 5'10"? Shep looks like he'd be around 6'. (LOL- I hope I got the "feet" & "inches" marks correct!) Yeah, were all GutterGals today, (today? maybe last few days-lol)! I was thinking of asking to try the singulair or zyrtec- I think zyrtec is the one that handles both indoor & outdoor allergies, which is what I really need. Hopefully those will be better on her than the zombifying stuff!

Ellen & Melissa- I took one of those classes too- it was one of the requirements (I think I had a choice & I chose History of World Religions) for my AA degree. I took another class - a world philosophies class- from the same instructor. Talk about a strange duck. Interesting, but just a *little* intense- not intense in the sense that he tried to 'shove religion down your throat', but just all around intense. I'm not sure what his religious leanings were. He was a good instructor in that I felt like I really learned a lot that I didn't know before- I found a lot of things in different religions that I can use; however I'd classify myself as Christian- but I haven't been to church in over 13 years (unless you count weddings and funerals). Melissa- like you said, I truly believe in God, but I haven't found my place in any particular religion either. I was really intrigued by Catholicsm after I went to a co-worker's funeral last November- there was just something so......*something* in the rituals. Very moving. Ellen- I'll have to check out the site sometime & see what they have- I'm also interested in the different religions from a historical standpoint. I just *love* history.....

Do you have trouble sleeping after reading true crime? I do if it's creepy enough. Red Dragon was one of those books that kept me reading- hard to put down & then hard to turn out the light! Anybody here remember reading "The Amityville Horror"? I read that in 7th grade and I swear I went *back* to sleeping with a nightlight and it would take me *forever* to go to sleep. I may re-read that one to see if I have the same reaction now.... I like Mark Fuhrman- I felt bad for him during the Simpson trial- I seemed to think at the time that he got a raw deal.
Melissa- Yeah- those books are my guilty pleasures too! I need fun flirty reads every once in awhile. I'm going to check out the "Milkrun" one- I have a couple of discount book cards (B Dalton & Waldenbooks). I didn't really think about doing that (putting one of the cuties into the story) until just the other day. I meant to mention it here but kept forgetting 'til last night. I think Rick's eyes are green or hazel- I used to think they might be blue until I got a closer look after the war. Ellen & Melissa- I took one of those classes too- it was one of the requirements (I think I had a choice & I chose History of World Religions) for my AA degree. I took another class - a world philosophies class- from the same instructor. Talk about a strange duck. Interesting, but just a *little* intense- not intense in the sense that he tried to 'shove religion down your throat', but just all around intense. I'm not sure what his religious leanings were. He was a good instructor in that I felt like I really learned a lot that I didn't know before- I found a lot of things in different religions that I can use; however I'd classify myself as Christian- but I haven't been to church in over 13 years (unless you count weddings and funerals). Melissa- like you said, I truly believe in God, but I haven't found my place in any particular religion either. I was really intrigued by Catholicsm after I went to a co-worker's funeral last November- there was just something so......*something* in the rituals. Very moving. Ellen- I'll have to check out the site sometime & see what they have- I'm also interested in the different religions from a historical standpoint. I just *love* history.....
Sherry- you could be right! And you know the saying.....when it rains, it pours! Oh the torment I get for watching Studio B at work. One of the maintanece guys here was like "That guy looks like a catfish" speaking of Shep. Hey Gals, I've seen Greg twice already this morning covering the Derrick Todd Lee story. I have to admit I was thinking "Oh great, he's gonna get this big story and Rick won't be anywhere in sight for weeks!" but I guess they didn't ask Greg to go to Baton Rouge because they just did a report with Mike Tobin who is there. I starting to believe Jayel's theory more and more about FOX being overwhelmed that Rick came out of the war as a "Scud Stud" they just weren't expecting it at all, and now they dont know what to do with him. Figures we'd pick the one least expected. LOL Either that or we really are just a small minority of girls compared to the Greg fans, but I find that hard to believe cosidering all the other fans I've found. hmmmm I just hope to see Rick again sometime soon. They spoiled us during the war. Daily updates from Rick and nice long conversations with Shep, it was like Rick Heaven. LOL Too bad I didn't think to pay more attention at the start of the war. =(

I took a "philosophy of religion" class in college years ago. Learned nothing, except that it was taught by and agnostic. I don't think much has changed since then. If you are interested in exploring some things about Christian appologetics there is a great academic sight called www.christiancounterculture.com. This has some fantastic articles on lots of subjects from many view points. I don't know if you are majoring in photography, but I consider it an art form. The articles from Frankie Schaffer are great. They are from his book "Addicted to Medioctrity" (which is out of print now). You may want to take a look ... or not.
I don't know that much about Judaism, but like you I would like to know more. I think my great grandfather on my mother's side may have been Jewish and he left Germany in the 20's and changed the spelling of his name. It is not something I know for certain, but one day I would like to find out if it is true and learn why he felt the need to do it. Family history, it can be something that really shapes us more than we know. ....ooops getting a little serious here.

Nat - I like reading those 20-30 something books too! They're my guilty pleasures. If you haven't already read it, you should check out "Milkrun" by Sarah Mlynowski (I got mine at Wal*Mart for like $9) It's HILARIOUS! I've never inserted a different guy into the story, but I'll have to try that now that you mention it. =)

It's very strange because the first and only guy I've ever dated was Jewish. Funny thing is I didn't know it until like 3 weeks into dating. LOL I'm such a dunce, his last name was Brenner you think I would have paid attention. He actually looks pretty similar to Rick in the general ways. He has curly hair almost like RIck's to a T, he has big blue eyes (I think Rick's might be green or hazel?), and sort of a big nose. Funny though because I've never known many Jewish people but still I keep gettin attracted to them. hmmmmm I actually don't know very much about religion at all. I've only been to church a handful of time in my life. My parents aren't very religous. I've read parts of the Holy Bible, but there's a lot my logical rationalizing mind can't comprehend. I truly believe in God, but I haven't found my place within any certain religion. I actually plan on taking a religion class so I can learn about different cultures and their religions.

Jan- I ordered it and then the next day they called me and asked which day & time- I was like, "HUH?" *day & time*???? She said that right now you can order specific dates & times (and I don't think it was by embed, but I'm not sure). I asked her if they had anything out yet with regards to a sort of "best of" (for lack of better words right now) with the embeds and she said no, but that after the war there may be something like that. I'd have to say that (to my knowledge, anyway) Rick's the first Jewish guy that caught my attention - I think it's because where I'm from originally (Arizona) we had a high population of Mormons- so most of the guys I liked in HS tended to be Mormon. I knew my parents wouldn't go for that, or at least they wouldn't be crazy about it (I was raised in Christian Science- but not the hard core kind - we went to doctors-lol!) if I got serious with one or married one. My first real boyfriend was what they call a jack-Mormon- basically he went to church on Sunday but didn't do the mission or anything like that (although his brother did)...but I digress. My mom never knew he was until after we broke up- after I *finally* got over it, I told my mom "well, I guess it was for the best- he's Mormon"- she was a little surprised-lol!

LMAO, Leslie!! Maybe you've got some hidden Irish there somewhere! My middle name is Dawn, and I've truthfully never been crazy about it (sorry mom!). My sister didn't like hers either- Cheryl. Maybe that was because when we were in trouble, we were "Natalie Dawn!" and "Amanda Cheryl!" LOL I've got some family that came from Rowan County, Kentucky- I was told they took a raft down the river to Indiana and then settled there. I've since found there's quite a few McClurgs in KY- particulary the Rowan County area. It's kinda like the Hayfords on my dad's side- all up in New England. I always laugh now that my ancestors were shipbuilders in Maine, and here I am living on a sailboat!

But anyway I'd go over to my Grandma's house (where my parents and brother were) and they watched ABC all the time. So I've been pretty clueless about FOX until recently.I got hooked on Fox News through Sean Hannity actually. I'd listen to him all the time on talk radio in the afternoon and he'd always talk about his show on FOX, so I started watching Fox and then about, oh maybe a month later the war started. I like many of the other gals began to recognize Rick because of Shep. The first few nights you couldn't tell anything about how a person looked because it was all night vision and eerie green eyes. But after seeing Shep talk about "his good buddy" all the time and seeing them interact together I , too, got sucked in by the Levy charm. Teri, I seem to be liking all the Jewish men at FOX as well Rosen and Goldblat are cuties! And Rosen is FUNNY too! But ummm yeah that is all for now -- well one last thing. It's funny, 'cause I have this little electronic solitaire game that I started playing again when I couldn't sleep, particularly when things heated up & the war started. I can't pick that thing up at night now without thinking of those great late night reports from Rick. It's like solitaire game=Rick- LOL! What a great connection- it's easier now in some ways to do family research because of the internet, at the same time it's difficult because there's just *so much* out there. I need to start doing research again myself. I've got two fairly clear lines & two that are almost impossible- lol!
Teri- I wasn't sure if it was you or not- that's cool! When I was living in the city, Kevin & I would go see some local groups at this small Irish pub in the Richmond District in SF. They started having the same people though, and his son moved from mom's to his house so we were kinda stuck at home, which was fine. Yeah- the Scots & Irish gaelic are different- if I remember right from my Celtic Lit class, there are two classes of the celtic language- P-Celtic and Q-Celtic. I have Irish Gaelic tapes & a couple of dictionaries. When my hubby & I were dating, I'd write these LONG letters & put "I love you" in Irish gaelic, or at least I'd try my best to. Well hopefully Rick won't be on tonight (or Todd for that matter-lol!)- I'm changing it to the history channel at 6- they have a great thing on about the Russian Tsars- I used to read a lot on Nicholas II & Alexandra when I was in HS, but I was more interested in the biographical stuff rather than the political/military stuff. I know- God rest Laci's soul, but there's just been so much attention to the case, especially here in CA. I think I'm at that point where unless they find out something major I'm fine not knowing the day to day case progression. I'm sure I was watching at that time when they were telling Rick to get out of there when the towers fell, but he just didn't stand out to me then....and I was watching Fox pretty much non-stop. I guess it took the skanky smelly hat to get my attention- lol!!

Jayel - I was number five to join and I joined around mid May, so most of us here - I think - are very new. I never heard of Rick before his broadcasts from Iraq. And it was his voice and his laugh that caught my attention becasue they reminded me of my husband (who passed away a year ago on May 18th) so you can see he was on my mind - when I heard his voice coming over the TV. It kind of threw me for a loop. I really couldn't tell what he looked like from those broadcasts (I missed a lot of them). I was so excited this weekend to see the news specials and the re-showing of the interviw on Hannity and Colms. He does remind me of my husband in many ways - but he's Rick Leventhal all on his own. And I really just like his style. So I became a fan.
Guinevere- I love most anything from the United Kingdom and Ireland. I am especially interested in the Scottish. For many years now I have been trying to find out about a great, great, great, great grandmother of mine. The legend is, that she was the daughter of Lord and Lady Rose. I have meant several distant cousins in my search on the net. One of them is pretty certain that she may belong to the Rose Clan in Scotland. I hope someday to make a trip to Scotland. I would like to do a bike trip or a walking tour - but unless I get in shape that won't happen.

LOL! Leslie, good to see you back! I'm glad I'm not the only one here that has that problem- at least my hubby doesn't turn it to CNN! But I hear the same thing, usually it's "oh, I see why you wanted to watch now...." I think Shep's just cautious and fairly private. I'd be surprised if he dances on the wrong side of the bar....I've been wrong before, but I just don't think he does. You're so funny! And good luck at the zoo! :D

I missed the 2nd playing of Special Report- hubby had control of the remote (he wanted to see the Willie Nelson concert thing on USA- it actually wasn't half bad- they had a lot of different people on). And then I fell asleep while reading, so I missed H & C at 11:00. Kevin turned off the TV at 11:15 (15 min into H & C). I had a really strange dream - I dreamt that someone broke into our storage unit & took everything and moved it somewhere else and we couldn't get to it. And then, this morning as I was unlocking my desk drawers and was holding my keys in my hand I remembered from my dream that I thought someone had 'borrowed' my keys and made copies of the keys for the storage unit. I wished I could remember better things at odd moments like that! Ugh- what a stressful dream! Yeah, I'd say Rick is definitely a people person, which is very fortunate for his profession- but maybe the profession made him more of a people person over time too.
Sherry- yeah.....Todd was quite a sight yesterday....between Rick & him, I'm really surprised that didn't make enough of an impression for last night's 'dream theater'- LOL!!

I have a prediction. I think Greg Kelly's ambitions run more in the area of politics then news broadcasting. Don't be surprise when we see that he has quit Fox to run for office.
I was watching (for the second time) "Special Report" tonight with Brit Hume. I caught something this time that I didn't see before. Brit Hume showed a special interest in what Rick had to say. Mr. Hume gave each of them equal time, but when he came to Rick I could tell he would have loved to just sit there and chat with him alone. If any of you have a chance to see this "Special Report" with Brit Hume again, watch it closely and you will see what I mean.
I have a feeling that Rick is just one of those guys that really gets along with the people. And they in turn like and respect him and are interested in what he has to say. We certainly know we all do!. ... I have the TV on in the background while I am posting here, and I just heard that Hannity and Colms is re-showing their interview with Greg and Rick ... be right back!
As I was saying... Rick has the ear of most of the anchor people at Fox. And I just saw it again in the Hannity and Colms interview. Don't worry gals, we will be seeing more of Rick in the near future. - Ellen

Jayel, that photo on the Greg Kelly site, is one of several Greg wallpapers I made for Nicole. I have her linked on my Links page too. She's a nice gal and she used to come chat around here too, but I'm not sure where she's run off too. =) The photo I believe was taken just before the war started, or just after they came back. They showed it on Fox & Friends when Rick & Greg came on the show. For some reason the blog isn't showing up right today. The comments aren't showing up and the side bar with all the fan page links is missing. Is this happening for anyone else? Also, Teri and Natalie, for some reason I didn't get either of your e-mails today. I think Hotmail is having issues. Maybe because they had photo attachements and I have my junk mail filter on, but you can re-send them at my yahoo address pennilessp0et@yahoo.com
One last comment on this whole Rick/Greg thing. I remember reading somewhere (on this blog I think actually) that people thought Shep was being rude to Rick at the start of the war, because he would tease Rick so much and people didn't know they were buddies. But in reality they are great freinds, and now that's completely obvious. So I think it might be similar in the whole Rick/Greg debate. We (me included) are maybe reacting to a situation that's just not there. I think we only get a partial/limited view of Rick and Greg, and I'm sure they get along just fine. Like I said before, I'm sure Greg is just a little weary because he's the new kid in town, but already is a "household name" for a lot of people. I'm sure that can be a little unsettling at times (especially if you're shy) and I think he will loosen up as time goes by and he'll become part of the lovely Fox Family - and heck, he may even go out for beer with Rick and Shep sometime. Hey, it could happen! =) I'm definately giving the boy a chance as long as my man Rick doesn't get jipped in this whole air time "transition" proccess.

LOL- Lynne- 'kinkiest' is definitely a word! It is funny how bits & pieces of dreams will come to you at the strangest times. I just wish I could remember more of mine-lol! I have a feeling tonight I may have some 'good dreams'- I think I have to be inundated with images to dream of them sometimes and there were some really impressionable ones today- including two Todd sightings :D.

I do think for a while there was some tension between Rick and Greg after they got back, but they definately seem to have bonded some. I mean so far they've done a ton of interviews together. And I do think that Greg is relaxing a little more. I'm sure he's just been nervous because he's new to the Fox gang and had only really gotten to know his photographer. But with the freindly atmosphere of FOX he's going to have to loosen up a little, they'll drag it out of him eventually. Jayel you do have a point about the air time. It' very unusual that someone as new as him would get so much time because there's lots of other reporters who have been there a very long time, so for him to get a story over one of them there must be a high demand for him. I just hope they listen to us Levy Ladies too. We can't go very long without our Rick Fix. I mean, you've seen how we get. LOL
Hey, I got some shots just now at the TV- I think they came out ok- except for the one I took at the beginning- Melissa, maybe you'll get a better quality one. I'll try to send tonight- I have an evil sneaky suspicion my cdrw is acting up right now- it's been saying there's 3min 25 sec left for the last 5 minutes- not good.
Sherry- yeah- that's what I'm leaning towards, but sometimes I wonder how many times Rick is thinking, "OK.....you can stop now"- lol! That day that Rick called in was just too funny. BOY THEY TREATED US TO SOME NICE RICK PICS DIDN'T THEY!!!! Sorry I'm just SO excited. Don't worry I'll bust out my digital camera and snap some shots of those pic. And we got to see Christian too! He's SO tall! Actually Natalie today Greg seemed to me to be much more light hearted than in the past. I think Greg is a very serious type of person and I bet he has a "dry" sense of humor, so for him to "pal around" like that is probably not normal for him therefore he comes off as seeming irritable, or ummmm (sorry Jen) stuffy. That Jamie guy had it MADE on the ship - ha ha T-Bone Steaks! Is it just me or did Jamie seem just a little nervous, he was stumbling over his words, I thought it was funny. And after hearing Maya talk I have this great respect for her. I'm surprised they didn't have Eccleston now that you mention it....I remember Maya, but I think Eccleston was on more than she was- the only difference is that I think Eccleston wasn't actually in the field- mostly in either Kuwait or Qatar.
LOL Natalie, funny thing happened! I had a dream that Greg was on t.v.! LOL So the first thing I wake up to this morning? Greg reporting from some beach. (that's probably why I had that dream because my tv was on all night.) LOL I was like "Hey wait a minute, this is bass ackwards here. It's supposed to be Rick" LOL! Actually my beef isn't with Greg at all, it's just with the Fox people who are emphasizing Greg so much. They certainly aren't being "fair and balanced" when it comes to air time. I personally thing Ollie got SCREWED on the show. He was in Iraq the longest, he's had the most experience, and he's a WONDERFUL story teller (hence his show "War Sories") and yet he only appeard on the last half of the show. Ollie deserves kudos for all the hard work he did and that show did not do him justice. Well the show didn't really do any of them justice. When you're going to have a show with five people talking about their personaly experiences it's gonna take a LOT longer than an hour to cover all the bases. I personally thought it was nice that they put a woman on the show so we could see her experience as a western woman in their civilzation, but they should have used someone that we recognized more, like Jennifer Eccleston. Well I'm gonna go now. =)

Greg's been on on overdrive this morning...(sorry Gregs Grrrls!, but ggggrrrrrrrrrrr.....) Greg has a certain appeal and I can understand why many women would like him (I just like Rick --hehe & Todd-- better). I guess I feel like Greg is stealing Rick's spotlight sometimes. (Or maybe it's because I can't get enough of Rick-lol!)

Wow, I took the day off thinking all of you would be enjoying the holiday or glued to your televsions sets - not taking time to post anything - well I was wrong. This has been a very chatty place tonight. Hmmm, wonder why - oh yeah. The show was great wasn't it.
I really liked it. It was not nearlylong enough however. And I can only hope that someone at Fox is working on a full fledged documentary about the "embedded' journalist. Of course let us hope it features more of Rick.
I think that perhaps the focus on Mal (Greg's camerman) may have been a creative choice. Mal is a good story teller. He was very captivating in the way he related what he saw.
Rick was too - and if it were up to me the entire hour could have been just Mal and Rick.
But you have to admit watching them all relate what they seen and felt was really powerful stuff.
I just know we are only seeing just a little bit of the story. I would give anything to be apart of the filmaking team who puts toghether these shows. I bet it was hard to pick what to show when the network only allows you about 30 minutes. The rest of the time went to newsbreaks and promos. The artist/writer/actor in me knows someone is putting together a documentary and we have not seen the last of Rick or any of the others. They have a powerful story to tell I just know there will be more.
I hope you all drop a email off to "Special Report" and to Rick about the show. Never under estimate the power of the public, and if we want more of Rick the folks at Fox will eventually listen.
Tomorrow is "Memorial Day". So I hope all of you will enjoy the time off. I for one will try to get some yard work done, inbetween watching FNC. Right now I am trying to picture in my mind how I can drag a cable line out to my yard and hook up my mini-tv set so I can watch and weed at the same time. Hmmm. Yes, at least it's on again! :D I was trying to be nice and not say that Greg was stealing the limelight- but since you brought it up... ;D There was one part at the beginning where they asked Rick what he had to do to train for it and he said. And then they asked Greg- don't get me wrong, I know he's in the Marines and has been for some time, but it was like he said he didn't go through that, that they thought he knew enough. It's an innocent enough comment- makes sense- but at the same time I thought it was a kind of presumptuous or 'better than you' kind of statement. Just my take- what you do gals think? I definitely think they gave Mal a lot of time- do you think that was because of the whole 'glass-in-Greg's-nose-thing? I mean, why did they have Mal & not Christian as well?

Hey gals, just got done watching the last 20 mins of the show. I meant to tape it but my retarted butt "pulled a Natalie" and set the vcr for 11 instead of 10 LOL. Thank goodness it's re-airing tonight, so I set my vcr for 1:00am so I can see the whole thing. =) I sat on my butt almost all day until I had to go babysit at 6:00pm. I actually watched this marathon of "The Bachelor" all day. Man! I was doing so good! I haven't watched any of the "reality" shows but I had to watch the cat fights, those women are so funny to watch. Ick I don't like Kirsten though, if she can't be tolerable around a few other women, then what does that say about how she acts around people she doesn't like. Andrew was a moron! Glad he picked Jen even though I didn't get to watch the final episode.

I have to agree with you gals, NOT ENOUGH RICK! What's up with the lime light shining on Greg and his photographer. It's like they said "ok let's give Rick 2 minutes and Greg 20." WHAT?! Me -- Jealous?? Never!.... LOL My comfort is that Greg is in Atlanta so he won't be able to steal so much limelight from Rick down there. =) That sounds mean doesn't it? Oh well. LOL!
