Holy cow, you gals were busy yesterday! I may have to just make some pithy (as O'Reilly says) comments. I have my eye appt today at 11:30, so I'll be doing that for lunch.......so this may be my lone post for the day (unless *something* just happens to show up...). I may try to get on tonight to check the email & blog. I feel better today, I have no idea what was up with yesterday. Still tired but at least I don't feel weak & warm. It was almost 90 when we go home yesterday & 79 (inside) when we went to bed- I'm looking forward to fall- it's always been my favorite time of year anyway. Can you believe we're already in the middle of JULY????
Jan- LMAO- I didn't even see that I spelled Kevin's name wrong. LOL I guess that's how my frame of mind (or lack thereof) was yesterday! Yeah, I just *know* that the one day I decide to call in or schedule a PTO day will be the day it arrives. That's kinda why I'm waiting.....that & I want to stretch my PTO time out as much as possible. AWESOME idea Jan! I nominate Leslie for Governor of California!! Come on out!! :-D Shep and dad's tomatoes....LOL I haven't gone to my HS reunion yet but will when it's the 20th (in 2006). I had a number of reasons for not going- major turmoil in my life at that very time & also 'cause it was soooo hot (I know, wussy excuse- but it *was* in the end of June- about 110). I'm not sure how it will be when I go- I will prolly still be the wallflower- LOL. Awwww- don't worry about not know what you want to be when you grow up....I'm wondering if I'll *ever* find out myself!
Denise- I think (unfortunately) that it's the way of the corporate world (and regular world?) to not punish those who need to be punished and it's all because of PC-ness & not wanting lawsuits, etc. I know what you mean- it irritates the heck out of me too. No one takes responsibility and pays for what they do anymore. It's enough to get my "Irish" up more than it should... ;-p LMAO- "it is sucking my will to live" For some reason that's just so really funny right now! Oh yeah, back to the HS Reunion thing- I'm *nowhere* where I thought I'd be when I graduated. I also look forward to seeing those who used to torment me.....and laugh. (I'm wicked, I know....I'm prolly going to be struck by lightning over that one.) Isn't it funny how you can totally remember what years movies in the 80's came out? I find myself remembering exactly (due to events or whatnot), or just by listening to the music- always a dead giveaway.....
Melissa- OMG!!!! THE PUPPY IS SOOOOOO CUTE & ADORABLE!!! AWWWWW...... I can't stop gushing- he's just so cute!! :-D Thanks for posting the pix! I'd love to see the east coast- the Carolinas, New England, maybe even Kentucky or Tennessee- my mom's maternal side came from an area in Kentucky that I'm still finding has a lot of them with the same last name. (Sheesh- did that make sense?) It just looks like beautiful country out there. I say "out there" since I'm on the west coast. One of these days.... I wasn't close to anyone either really in HS- there's really only a handful that I've kept in touch with and I'm not sure that they'll go. My old best friend (read my blog, BTW- about last week's Friday Five) and I haven't been in touch for five years now. I'd go more for the curiosity factor more than anything else. Yeah, I *may* get in touch with people again and become friends, but I'm not counting on it. I'm sure my sister will go to hers this year- she had *loads* of friends (we're different as night & day....)
Nan- OK- I think I know where Porterville is- I take it that it's on hwy 99? Usually when we drive to AZ, we kind of cut through Bakersfield (can't remember the route off hand) but we usually take hwy 5 through central CA and then cut over to 40 (the one that goes through Mojave, Barstow, etc.). Yeah, I'm sure it's very toasty down there right now! Stay cool! Ohhhh yeah.....isn't that great about TX? I didn't know that till my hubby told me. We're going there since he's from there (but no state income is nice too)- he was born in Houston. Wow, 50 years, I'm sorry they didn't stick it out. When I was younger (9th grade), I thought I was kinda in the "in crowd" 'cause my parents got divorced. Now I'm just kinda sad sometimes. I *do* love my step-mom though- she's great; it's just not the same- hard to describe, but I'm sure you'll know what I mean. "I'll be back" as the re-election slogan had me LMAO. About the reunion thing- I think that's the difference between those who were in the 'in crowd' and those who weren't. Those who weren't have a life out of HS, those who were in the 'in crowd' still live in HS- just an observation. I'm sure it's prolly normal for them to get together & talk about it at reunions, but I have a feeling that they focus more on that than their current life, kids, etc. I'm sorry you had a kinda rough weekend there! If it's any consolation, I would be making the call too- I've never mowed-lol. Awww.....but it sounds liuke *everything* worked out in the end! :-D What a sweet ending!
Jen- "Blog Break 2003"- that's cute! Thanks for sharing what happened too- I think we chatted about this on AIM, but I'm sure it feels good to post what happened (the old "load off your shoulders" kind of way). I really don't think it was him- he seems too sweet/nice to do something so mean as that. Girl, I think I would have been the same way, though- if someone said they were going to call and it was someone I have a big interest in, I would be paying *way* more attention to my cell phone and my message center than normal. When Kevin & I were kinda friends/kinda seeing each other I was checking my message center (voicemail) like every hour or so. I was just a tad bit obsessive. I know that it's easy to lose yourself in someone else, but it's also not abnormal. I say go with your gut instinct- if you think it's time for some "spring cleaning" then that may be what you need. But be excited over things like that- it's what makes life fun (especially during the doldrums). And I think you explained (or 'splained as Ricky Ricardo would say) yourself *very* well. You have a great, strong, smart head on your shoulders and I have no doubt that you will always land feet first.
Sherry- Whew!! Glad I didn't miss anything! :-D
Ok- gotta get to work- will *try* to post later.....
